Movie double feature set for Okotoks park tonight
Grab your blankets and folding chairs, it’s movie night in Ethel Tucker Centennial Park.
To celebrate the inaugural Alberta Day, the Town of Okotoks has a day full of activities planned on Saturday, culminating with the screening of two outdoor movies this evening.
Jumanji: The Next Level is set for 8 p.m. and will be followed by Ghostbusters: Afterlife at 10 p.m.
The fourth installment in the Jumanji franchise, Jumanji: The Next Level stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas. Released in 2019, the fantasy adventure comedy is a sequel to 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and sees the same group of teens trapped in Jumanji once again.
The fourth film in the Ghostbusters franchise, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is another supernatural comedy that was released earlier this year. It’s a sequel to Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989), and sees Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and others reprise their characters from those earlier movies.
The latest in the franchise sees a single mother move to an Oklahoma farm she inherited from her estranged father, a member of the original Ghostbusters.
A concession stand will open in the park an hour prior to the first movie.
In the case of inclement weather, movies will move indoors to the Rotary Performing Arts Centre at 3 Elma St. E.
To celebrate Alberta Day, the Town will also host entertainment and games at Ethel Tucker Centennial Park from 2 to 6 p.m. as well as a picnic with live music at Olde Towne Plaza from noon to 2 p.m.
