JOHN WICK Spin-Off Movie BALLERINA Starring Ana de Armas Begins Shooting Much Sooner Than Expected

The John Wick franchise ranks among Lionsgate’s most profitable properties, so it’s not exactly shocking that the studio is now looking to expand it in any way it can.

For example, we know that a TV series, The Continental, is coming to Peacock and Prime Video, with a 1970s setting and the focus on Ian McShane’s Winston (Colin Woodell will take over the role for this prequel). That’s not all, though, as it’s been confirmed (via that production on John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum spin-off, Ballerina, starts production this week.

That movie will see No Time to Die star Ana de Armas play the titular ballet dancer-turned-assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.

Len Wiseman (Underworld) will serve as director, and there’s obviously a huge amount of excitement to see what de Armas brings to the table as what we’re sure will be a badass new female action hero. Her brief role in the James Bond franchise proved she has what it takes, anyway!

Interestingly, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has also let slip that they’re „fielding proposals“ for a John Wick video game, news we’re sure will be welcomed by many of you.

While he wouldn’t share much, the executive did say, „I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but we believe there is a big AAA game to be made out of ‘John Wick.’ We have been fielding proposals. We certainly are interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say anything more about that at this time.“

There’s one amazing game to be made out of John Wick, and Keanu Reeves obviously has some experience in that realm after previously starring in Cyberpunk 2077. Any video game is likely to be a long way off, but Lionsgate would be smart to make this a priority.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to be released on March 24, 2023, while a fifth movie has already been confirmed. As for Ballerina, we hope to have some news on that over at soon.
